Cleaning your brushes is a hateful chore that every makeup lover puts off until A. they can afford new brushes or B. finds a solution to their brush cleaning woes.
That solution is the StylPro brush cleaner and dryer!
I for one am an absolute disgrace when it comes to cleaning my brushes, I just don’t do it. I know its disgusting! BUT you will be happy to know that I currently have clean, bacteria and makeup free brushes thanks to the StylPro.
What Is The StylPro
The Stylpro is a makeup brush cleaner and dryer developed by Stylfile. As defined on their website it is “a revolutionary device and cleanser proven to clean and dry makeup brushes in seconds. It uses centrifugal spin technology so that brushes are literally ready to re-use immediately.”
It is expensive at €65, but in my opinion it is worth the money, especially if you are lazy with your brush maintenance.
What You Get
It comes with
- Eight rubber collars
- A glass bowl
- A stand for the collars
- A silicon seal
- Splash guard
- Batteries (well done stylfile!)
and the pièce de résistance
- the StylPro pen and spindle
*I got mine on Meaghers Pharmacy
How to use
Half fill the bowl with a mixture of water and your chosen brush cleaner. I used StylPro’s MakeUp Brush Cleanser Solution, which I found worked brilliantly.
If you are just looking for an effective brush cleaner and don’t want the expense of the StylPro or are some alien who enjoys cleaning their brushes by hand then I would suggest StlyPro’s MakeUp Brush Cleanser Solution, which retails around €14.99.
You simply attach any makeup brush to one of the of eight collars and then attach the brush and collar to the spindle and StylPro.
Next dunk the brush into the water and brush cleaning solution for about 10 seconds, then hit the switch and spin for another 10 seconds or until satisfied.
Finally remove your brush from the water and allow to spin for a further 10 seconds to dry.
Result
The StylPro and cleanser cleaned my brushes efficiently and thoroughly (especially considering how long it was since they last saw a bit of soap)
I was concerned with my eye brushes as they were left a bit frayed after use, but a quick reshape with a tissue or towel seemed to solve that issue.
For some of my denser brushes I did however notice that the smaller bristles closer to the base of the brush didn’t clean as well as the rest, but my brushes were embarrassingly dirty so that could have attributed to the residue.
Also at times when cleaning denser, top-heavy brushes it would swish and slosh around the water. This may just be down to some more practice needed on my part and I don’t feel it had any impact on the products cleaning capabilities.
As for the drying aspect of the StylPro, I was amazed at how ‘ready to use’ the brushes were after being cleaned. It genuinely does dry your brushes. Dense brushes may need another whirl outside of the recommended 10 seconds to ensure the excess is off, but the days of waiting hours for your brushes to dry are well and truly over if you decide to purchase the StylPro.
All in all, I really liked the StylPro and feel it has been exactly what I have been looking for to ensure my makeup brushes are kept clean and free from bacteria, thus keeping my skin free from infections and spots.
